Concrete repair and slab leveling in Syracuse typically costs between $400 and $2,500, with most residential jobs landing somewhere in the middle of that range, and the final cost varies a lot depending on job size, scope, and site conditions. A single cracked apron panel and a settled three-car driveway that needs foam injection under six slabs are not the same job, even though both fall under "repair."
What this service covers
Slab leveling lifts a settled or heaved slab back to grade without tearing it out. Depending on what we find, that means polyurethane foam injection through small drilled ports, or mudjacking with a cementitious slurry where the void underneath is large. Repair work covers the failures that come with road salt and freeze-thaw: spalled edges, popped joints, hairline cracks that have started widening, and surface delamination.
We also handle section replacement. If one 10x10 panel is crushed and the rest of the slab is sound, cutting out and repouring that panel is almost always cheaper than a full replacement, and we'll tell you that in writing rather than sell you a new driveway.
What drives the price
- Crack and joint repair: $400–$900. Final cost varies with the number of linear feet, crack width, and whether the joint needs to be cut open and re-filled rather than just sealed.
- Slab leveling (foam or mudjacking): $600–$1,500. Final cost varies a lot by how many slabs are affected, how deep the void runs, and how accessible the ports are.
- Cut-out and repour of one section: $1,200–$2,500. Final cost varies with panel size, thickness, how much base has to be re-compacted, and whether the new panel has to match existing control joint lines.
- Full service range: $400–$2,500. Final cost varies a lot by job size, scope, and site conditions, we don't treat any of these numbers as a firm quote until we've walked the slab.
The biggest single variable is base condition. A slab poured thin over a shallow base is the most common failure we see around Onondaga County, and no amount of surface patching fixes it. If the base under a settled panel is still compacted and drained, leveling works. If it's pumping mud or the sub-base never went below frost depth, we'll say so and price the alternative.
How the work goes
We start with a walkthrough and a sounding test, tapping the slab to find voids and delamination you can't see from standing height. Then we check drainage: where does meltwater go in March, and does it go away from the slab or under it.
For leveling, we drill 5/8-inch ports on a grid, inject in lifts, and watch the slab rise against a laser level rather than guessing. Ports get patched with a matching mix. For a cut-out, we saw a clean edge, dig and compact the base, and pour air-entrained 4,000 psi concrete, the mix that survives road salt, with control joints cut on a plan. We pull city or town permits for any work that touches the right-of-way or apron, since Syracuse and the surrounding towns each handle that differently.
Why Syracuse Driveways
A driveway here fights about 115 inches of lake-effect snow a year, salt on the surface from November to April, and a frost line down around 42 inches. That's why our base work goes below frost depth and why we cut joints where the slab actually needs them instead of wherever the crew stops. We also seal on a schedule, because that's the difference between thirty years and eight.
We put our recommendation in writing: repair, level, or replace. If the slab still has life in it, we'll tell you.
